Have You Ever Thanked Your Brain?
Every day your brain performs billions of calculations without asking for recognition.
It remembers...
protects...
learns...
adapts...
and continually works to keep you alive.
Yet most of us only notice our brain when something goes wrong.
After nearly fifty years as a holistic health practitioner, I found myself asking a different question.
What would happen if, instead of constantly trying to change the brain... we first learned to appreciate it?
Have you ever thanked your Hippocampus?
It has faithfully gathered the story of your entire life...
your memories...
your experiences... y
our moments of joy...
and even the lessons learned through life's challenges.
Today...
perhaps pause for a moment...
place a gentle hand on your head... a
nd simply whisper,
"Thank you."
Have you ever thanked your Amygdala?
It has stood guard since the day you were born...
alerting you to danger...
helping to protect you...
doing the very best it could with the information it had.
Perhaps today it doesn't need another battle.
Perhaps today it simply needs to hear,
"Thank you."
And your Brainstem... I
t has never taken a day off.
Not once.
Every breath...
every heartbeat...
every moment of your life... i
t has faithfully carried on.
Neither has your heart.
Have you ever thanked them?
Perhaps healing doesn't always begin by fighting what is wrong.
Perhaps it begins by appreciating what has been faithfully serving us all along. T
he next time you place one hand over your heart...
place your other hand gently over your head...
take one slow, gentle breath...
and simply whisper,
"Thank you."
You may be surprised how differently your whole being responds when appreciation becomes part of the healing journey. — Kristina Izutsu Sacred Light Portal
